A classic Japanese pattern, carved into tin

About Osaka Suzuki
Osaka Suzuki (大阪錫器) was founded in Osaka in 1949 and today produces nearly all of Osaka Naniwa Suzuki (Osaka tinware), a designated Traditional Craft of Japan with more than 300 years of history. Its craftspeople, including nationally certified traditional craftsmen, cast, turn and finish every piece by hand.
1. Ichimatsu: the traditional checkered pattern
Ichimatsu is the checkered pattern seen on kimono and textiles since the Edo period, a symbol of prosperity because it continues without end. Here it is cut into a tall, slender tumbler with a bright "proof" finish, in six colors.
2. Tin makes drinks taste better
Tin conducts heat so well that pouring in a cold drink chills the cup right away. For an even colder drink, put it in the fridge for a little while before use.

3. Rounder, smoother flavor
Tin is said to purify water and soften the taste of drinks; in old China, tin was sunk into wells to keep the water clean. It is completely safe, and because it does not rust, break or deteriorate, it is made for long use.

Ready to give
Every piece comes in a paulownia wood (kiri) box, the traditional Japanese gift box. Handmade by traditional craftspeople and presented in wood, Osaka Suzuki tinware is a long-time favorite for birthdays, retirements, weddings and the 10th wedding anniversary (the "tin anniversary").
