A Rare Piece Only a Master Can Make

This acrylic ballpoint pen shows a different expression depending on the angle and the light. Without a highly skilled craftsman, the material would crack before it could be shaped into a pen, so it can never be mass-produced.

Turning is done almost entirely by hand using specialized tools that require great skill and know-how. Because the process involves so many steps, only a few craftsmen in Japan can do this work, and Mr. Onishi may be the only one still active today.

The Maker

The maker is Mr. Keizo Onishi, who runs the writing-instrument workshop Onishi Seisakusho in Higashi-Osaka, a town known for its manufacturing. Since becoming a fountain pen craftsman at the age of 15, he has devoted more than 65 years to making fountain pens and ballpoint pens.

Using specialized tools that demand years of know-how, almost every step is done by Mr. Onishi's own hands. It is said that he may be the only craftsman still hand-making acrylic pens today, and he has even received requests from France that rely on his skills.

A Special Pen Worth Owning

Designed by a craftsman who has spent his life with pens, this ballpoint is light and comfortable even during long writing sessions, and above all it is a practical tool made to be used every day. Practical yet beautiful and vibrant, it feels special, and perhaps because it is turned by hand, it also has a certain warmth. The more you use it, the more it draws you in.

Limited Color: Mosaic

"Mosaic" is made so that the colors appear at random. Every pen shows a different pattern, giving it the charm of a one-of-a-kind piece. The pattern cannot be chosen.

As it is made by a craftsman, maintenance is also available. Pick it up, use it often, and before you know it, it will become your pen for life.
