A stainless yukihira pan that never turns black

Kobo Aizawa matte stainless steel yukihira pan

The yukihira is the classic Japanese saucepan, used every day for miso soup, simmered dishes and blanching vegetables. Many are made of aluminum, which darkens with use. Kobo Aizawa’s yukihira is made of 18% chromium stainless steel, so it never turns black, resists rust and scorching, and stays sturdy for years. Unusually, it has a pouring spout on both sides, so it pours easily with either hand.

Matte finish that hides small scratches

The sides have a calm, matte finish that blends into any kitchen and keeps small scratches from showing. Kobo Aizawa’s craftsmen instantly read the grain of the metal, invisible to an untrained eye, and polish each pan along it by hand. The base is flat so it works on induction (IH) as well as gas.

Designed for the cook

Light and easy to hold, with a warm beech-wood handle that is comfortable to grip. Built to last and easy to use, it is the kind of pan every home wants one of, perfect for people who like to use good things carefully for a long time.

About Kobo Aizawa

Kobo Aizawa is a long-established kitchen tool maker in Tsubame, Niigata, a town famous for metalwork. Their aim is to make tools that bring Japan’s traditional crafts into everyday life. They always return to the basic questions of why an object exists and why it is needed, pursuing functional beauty and stripping away decoration to give their tools life. Material, ease of use and how a tool feels in the hand come before fashionable design, which is why their tools are so sturdy and pleasant to use.
