About m+

m+ (emmepiu, エムピウ) is a leather goods brand founded in 2001 in Kuramae, Tokyo, by Mr. Murakami, a former architect who trained as a leather craftsman in Italy. Drawn to the depth of leather aging, he uses only carefully chosen leathers from first-rate Italian tanneries, trusted for their quality, color, durability and the way they age.

1. Compact and easy to use

  • Palm-sized, about the size of a business card holder; fits in a back pocket.
  • Holds about 15 cards, 10 bills and 15 coins.
  • A wide coin-pocket opening makes coins easy to find and take out.
  • Bills, coins and cards are all within reach at the till.
  • Darker material where bills and coins touch, so marks don’t show.

2. Quadretti: a grid-scratched finish

Quadretti means “little squares” in Italian. The leather is scratched in a fine vertical and horizontal grid, so at a glance it looks like woven fabric. Because the whole surface is already textured, small scratches are nothing to worry about. A rare finish for anyone who wants something a little different.

3. Enjoy the aging

m+ uses carefully chosen leather from first-rate Italian tanneries, trusted for quality, color, durability and the way it ages.

The joy of using, more than buying

Most things lose value as you use them. Leather is different: as you use it, your hands, your habits and your memories soak into it, and it becomes something irreplaceable. m+ makes wallets to be grown into your own, not just bought.

Care

  • No regular cream or conditioning is needed: the oils worked deep into the leather, together with the natural oils from your hands, create a natural, beautiful patina.
  • If you will not use it for a long time, keep it away from humidity and air it from time to time to prevent deterioration and mold.
  • Because the leather is finished to show its natural character, there may be color variations, veins, small marks or creases. Please enjoy them as part of the leather.
