At first glance it looks like a card case or a business card holder. Only when you open it do you see that it is a wallet made from a single piece of leather. The great feature of the millefoglie is that its design and function work together: “This shape is the result of pursuing ease of use from the user’s point of view,” says Mr. Murakami of m+, its creator.
About m+
m+ (emmepiu, エムピウ) is a leather goods brand founded in 2001 in Kuramae, Tokyo, by Mr. Murakami, a former architect who trained as a leather craftsman in Italy. Drawn to the depth of leather aging, he uses only carefully chosen leathers from first-rate Italian tanneries, trusted for their quality, color, durability and the way they age.
1. Everything you need, in your palm
- Palm-sized, about the size of a business card holder; fits in a back pocket.
- Compact, yet holds about 15 cards, 10 bills and 15 coins.
- A wide coin-pocket opening makes coins easy to find and take out.
- At the till, bills, coins and cards are all within reach without changing your grip.
- Darker material is used where bills and coins touch, so marks don’t show.
2. Aging that the owner builds
m+ makes the wallet; you give it its patina by using it. That is the true pleasure of leather goods. But not every leather ages well, which is why m+ uses only leathers from first-rate Italian tanneries.

Care
- No regular cream or conditioning is needed: the oils worked deep into the leather, together with the natural oils from your hands, create a natural, beautiful patina.
- If you will not use it for a long time, keep it away from humidity and air it from time to time to prevent deterioration and mold.
- Because the leather is finished to show its natural character, there may be color variations, veins, small marks or creases. Please enjoy them as part of the leather.
