A big round cushion for babies, children and grown-ups

The senbei zabuton is a flat, round floor cushion about 100 cm across, named after the thin Japanese rice cracker it resembles. Takaokaya first made it so that dads could stretch out and relax. Parents soon discovered that it was the perfect size for changing nappies, dressing a baby and letting little ones nap or play, and word spread quickly. Today it is one of Takaokaya’s most popular products.

Soft, springy cotton made by a Kyoto futon maker
Inside is a layer of cotton wadding of just the right thickness, made with the know-how of a long-established Kyoto futon workshop. It is supple and springy, so comfortable that babies (and adults) want to stay on it for hours.
From newborn to school age, and beyond
It is not just for babies. Families tell us it is still in daily use when their children start school, and afterwards grown-ups can use it too. Change the cover and it takes on a whole new look.

Washable cover, water-repellent inner cushion
The cover is removable and tied in place, so you can wash it whenever you like. Because babies’ cushions so often get wet, the inner cushion itself is water-repellent as well, so spills are less likely to soak in.

A lovely gift for a new baby
Babies look even sweeter in photos taken on it, which makes it a favourite gift for a new arrival, one that will be used for years.
Each cushion is finished by hand to order and usually ships within about 1 week (2–3 weeks in busy periods).
