YUKINE: The Towel That Squeaks Like Fresh Snow

SHINTO TOWEL YUKINE-COLORED towel

SHINTO TOWEL: The Ultimate Evolution of Senshu Craftsmanship

SHINTO TOWEL is the signature brand of Shinto Towel Co., Ltd., a long-established maker that has been weaving the soft, highly absorbent Senshu Towel in Osaka for over 110 years. Combining century-old techniques with a modern, minimalist design, every towel is finished with the brand's stylish woven tag.

"YUKINE" is a curious towel: squeeze it in your hand and it gives a soft "squeak", just like stepping on freshly fallen snow. Many people are surprised the first time they touch it. This feel was born from pursuing one special feature of Senshu towels.

"Ato-zarashi": Bleaching After Weaving

Senshu towels are made with a unique technique called "ato-zarashi" (post-bleaching). The cleansing process that washes away natural oils, impurities and sizing is carried out after the towel has been woven.

For YUKINE, this process takes about twice the usual time and care. The distinctive squeaky feel is proof that the towel has been washed and refined to the limit.

Absorbent from the Very First Use

Because its absorbency is fully drawn out, YUKINE soaks up water remarkably well even when used straight out of the package, without washing first.

"Once you use it, you can't go back to ordinary towels!" YUKINE has many devoted fans who say exactly that.

Like Plants Peeking Through the Snow

YUKINE is woven with white warp threads and colored weft threads. The gentle colors were inspired by a snowy landscape where plants, earth and water peek out from under fresh snow, so they blend naturally into everyday life.

Available in five colors: aka (red), midori (green), ki (yellow), kon (navy) and hai (gray).
