A New Type of Pottery Made with Clay Kneaded with Color

Pottery is typically colored using a chemical called glaze (yuyaku) that creates a glass-like quality. Since glaze cannot be applied to the bottom when firing, the underside of pottery remains a rough, unglazed surface, which is the so-called "bottom surface." However, corock has no bottom surface, and all 12 faces have a beautiful matte texture. What exactly is different from ordinary pottery?

In fact, corock doesn't use glaze. It's made with a unique technology developed by Yamashita Toen, where "color" is kneaded into the clay itself. It's produced through a process significantly different from typical ceramic manufacturing processes, a new type of pottery that could only be created by Yamashita Toen, which can handle integrated production.
