The Secret of the "0.5"

Double gauze (2 layers) and triple gauze (3 layers) are common. So what is "2.5-ply"?

The towel is woven from three layers of gauze, but only the middle layer is woven with a looser thread density. That lighter middle layer is the "0.5". It creates gentle air pockets between the layers, so instead of lying flat, the gauze takes on a soft, lofty and expressive texture.
