Bentwood containers (magewappa) have traditionally been made using the inner "heartwood" part of logs. However, despite the fact that logs always contain an outer white part called "shirata" making up 20-50% of the wood, this portion has been discarded rather than used for bentwood containers due to being difficult to work with.

Odate Kougei-sha has repeatedly experimented with ways to utilize this limited resource of cedar without waste. What they finally completed is Blanc Pa.

"Blanc" means "white" in French. Their commitment to "shirata" is incorporated into this brand name meaning "white."
