Bentwood dish - Blanc Pa | Odate Kougei-sha-
"Blanc Pa" - A New Bentwood Container Born to Protect Valuable Resources
Bentwood containers (magewappa) have traditionally been made using the inner "heartwood" part of logs. However, despite the fact that logs always contain an outer white part called "shirata" making up 20-50% of the wood, this portion has been discarded rather than used due to being difficult to work with.
Odate Kougei-sha has repeatedly experimented with ways to utilize this limited resource of cedar without waste. What they finally completed is Blanc Pa.
"Blanc" means "white" in French. Their commitment to "shirata" is incorporated into this brand name meaning "white."
Lightweight and Durable Bentwood Containers
Some may worry about the strength of wooden products, but they are sturdier than they appear with a solid construction. Furthermore, unlike pottery or plastic tableware, they become more attractive with use as their color and texture change, developing character.
Each size can be stacked, so you can store them nested when not in use.
Urethane Coating Makes Them Resistant to Oil and Moisture
These beautiful dishes showcase the unique wood gradation drawn by nature. With urethane coating that complies with food hygiene laws, they are suitable for sauces, moist items, and oily dishes. They can be used as dessert plates for cakes and for fish dishes as well. These are items through which we want you to experience the warm touch of cedar and its surprising lightness.
These bentwood containers, each bent by hand by craftsmen, make perfect gifts for parents and friends to whom you are indebted.
