IROIRO Canister: An Airtight Ceramic Jar Made with Teapot Craftsmanship

JINSUI: Teapot Makers from Tokoname, Japan's No.1 Teapot Region
JINSUI is based in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, the town known as Japan's leading producer of teapots. The workshop makes some of the finest Tokoname-ware teapots in the country, and uses those same skills to create this ceramic storage canister.
"Futasuri": An Airtight Seal in Ceramic
Can a ceramic container really be airtight? JINSUI's answer comes from teapot making. A teapot needs a lid that fits its body perfectly, and craftsmen achieve this through "futasuri" (lid grinding), where the lid and body are ground together by hand until they meet precisely.
Thanks to this technique, the IROIRO canister seals remarkably well for a ceramic piece. It is ideal for storing coffee beans or tea leaves, and pairs beautifully with JINSUI's IROIRO teapots for a coordinated look.

Tokoname-ware with a Modern Palette
Tokoname-ware is traditionally made from "shudei", an iron-rich red clay that fires to a distinctive vermilion. JINSUI keeps the qualities of Tokoname clay while moving away from the classic red, adding soft, muted colors that brighten your day every time you use them.
A Design for Everyone
Want an airtight container, but find plastic tubs a little uninspiring? The IROIRO canister brings the weight and warmth of ceramics to your kitchen. Its gentle, dusky colors suit any interior and any age, making it a wonderful gift for anyone.

Care & Notes
- Some lids may show slight rubbing marks on the knob. These come from the hand-finished futasuri process and are a sign of Tokoname craftsmanship.
- As this is made from natural clay, each piece varies slightly, and small pinholes may appear. These do not affect use and are part of the character of earthenware.
- Hand wash with water. Do not use chemical detergents or metal scourers.
- Not suitable for direct flame, dishwasher, microwave or oven.
